[ a shop that had both vintage fashion and a tailor on hand, since this was the case it wasn't too outrageous to find italy wandering in and having a look around. it was kind of nostalgic, from the house to the items he finds himself drawn to.

[Lily was in the back room, putting a load of laundry into the jumbo washing machine but returned to the front shortly after hearing the bell over the door chime, signaling the arrival of a potential customer. Ah, she remembers him from the Halloween party.]

Hi, Italy. Are you looking for a new outfit?

Ah! Ciao Lily~ [ such an enthusiastic wave ]

Is this your shop? It's pretty amazing! [ hand movements all over again ]

I'm just out shopping around, getting prepared to buy a Spring wardrobe... Ah! That's right! Lily, are you doing that brochure thing that the landlord sent us? You know [ he's reaching into his coat pocket and bringing it out ]

[He seems enthusiastic today. Is he always this energetic?]

Yes, it is. It's similar to the one I had back home but this one just appeared out of nowhere a couple of months ago so I don't know if I can take too much credit for it.

That candy catalog? I've sold a few things but I've been more worried about other folks. Your friend [she means Hong Kong] was saying the Landlord might do bad things to people who don't do what he wants.

I guess the landlord could be pretty tricky... I've texted with him quite a bit, and even got to dance with him on Halloween. Oh! And I gave him flowers, he seemed very appreciative of that. [ he doesn't even think about how this sounds ]

And you know--I already know what to get! Gingerbread men--a dozen of them. And a sugar angel party flat.

[She's actually nodding in agreement.] That's true. As long as you're not buying collector's items, buying vintage is much cheaper than buying new.

...You danced with the Landlord? So, you know what the fellow looks like? [That had been a mystery to other people she asked. And yes, she is probably getting the wrong idea from the dancing and flowers...]

All right. And I'll buy a bag of the tirol chocolates from you. [Those are Italian, right? She's assuming from the name...] And one each of the different pie slices. [She'll put them in the freezer and if she doesn't hear about these sweets doing strange things to folks after several weeks, maybe she'll consider eating them...]

It really is, I'm sure that's why Austria's wardrobe hasn't changed much for centuries, he's always worried about spending too much money~ [ read as: frugal ]

Yeah! He looked very... pleasant? Like he was a good looking guy, but not like overly so? He's English and made a great dance partner~ I had started texting him a little more after my second arrival, just to see how he was doing and what he likes. He probably gets a lot of messages of people asking him for things, so I figured this is probably good to get once in a while.

Those seem like really good choices--I've been getting a lot of the cake and pie lately too. I guess it's a good thing I had bought a new refrigerator when I re-did the kitchen! Now I have plenty of space~

Jiminy Crickets! He's been wearing the same clothes for hundreds of years? [She supposes saving money is a good thing but she has to wonder how many mends and patches clothes that old would have if kept in regular use!]

A good looking British guy who's good at dancing? Anything else? I'd be curious to see if I could spot him around town. [So, she could give him a piece of her mind about all of the trouble he's caused...]

Yeah... I mean I don't think everything he owns is really that old, but he tends to hang onto things as long as possible by constantly stitching and patching-- [ he leans in, speaking a little more hushed ] Germany apparently had trouble trying to get rid of underwear with him around. He kept insisting on patching them... after a while those just need to go you know.

As for the landlord... I could give you a good sketch if you give me some paper, it's easier that way for me! Otherwise I might end up describing someone totally different~

[ there was a moment of thought, leaning and humming... ] I haven't had the chance! This season there are other customary desserts to make and eat--And I've been getting in trouble for eating too many sweets.

Land sakes! He almost sounds like a hoarder! I hope your friend managed to change his mind! [Because she didn't want to imagine what the old fashioned underthings that sometimes passed through her shop would be like after a few centuries of wear!]

You enjoy drawing? [And she digs a paper bag and a pen out from under the counter, sliding it across to him.]

Oh, what would those be? Are they traditional Italian desserts? And I reckon I'm going to try freezing some of the sweets because I've gotten so many of them.

I think Hungary tries to help out to make sure he doesn't get to keep as much as he'd like. Austria is all about appearances, but then he has that side to him as well~

[ he says this all so casually, sketching out details of the lessor as he continues ]

Art is my passion, I spend a lot of time sketching, drawing and painting. I'm just glad I have more freedom to do that for more than just work for now~

[ pulling back, he examines the sketch for a moment before sliding it over to lily ]

Italian desserts, and also what I've learned from France, Spain, Austria, Hungry, Japan and Germany~ Being able to learn a new recipe is fun, just so you can see what could be done to it.

Sounds like he needs it. I know how tempting it is to try to keep too much. But I started selling clothes back home so I wouldn't just keep all the cool old clothes I found to myself.

That many different kinds? I can see why you haven't gotten to sampling the ones you've bought then. I enjoy cooking too so maybe we could swap recipes sometime.

It's hard to let go, that's for sure... I think I still have some outfits from the 18th century packed away somewhere at home.

Of course, when I was still very small nonno Roma noticed and encouraged my love for art, he said it would be important as things changed.

I don't think he gets out much honestly, when I was texting him he said he was the type that preferred to stay indoors. I think Halloween may have been the first time he was out in the open to mingle with us.

Are there certain types of recipes you prefer? I bake pretty often but I've also got some good recipes for stews and main dishes. I can write some down for you when I get the chance.
